My Computer Line-up 2009

With the latest addition to my Mac family my computer Line-up has grown and with it being a new year it is time to give a quick update to my tech friends and my Mac friends.

Music Box Kubuntu Server LTS (Pentium Celeron 450 Mhz, 512mb) under domain music.mrfloris.net

19″ Rack Mountable FreeBSD server (Pentium Xeon, 512mb) under domain freebsd.mrfloris.net

Chieftech Case Ubuntu Server (Pentium4 2.4 Ghz, 1gb) under domain ubuntu.mrfloris.net

Apple Powerbook Workstation (PPC 1.67 Ghz, 2gb) 15″ under domain powerbook.mrfloris.net

Apple iMac Workstation (Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz, 4gb) 24″ under domain imac.mrfloris.net

Apple Mac Pro Server (Pentium Xeon 2x 2.66 Ghz, 6gb) 2x 20″ under domain macpro.mrfloris.net

I might look into replacing my TV with the 24″ iMac on a new table, and get a wireless keyboard/mouse and cancel my TV account with the ISP. The old TV is almost as big (Screenwise) as the iMac, and connecting the speakerset there to the iMac resolves the Audio. It can also replace the music box I recently installed. It is faster, and the Mac Pro can be the library of movies/tv/music/games with iTunes network sharing, and Frontrow or Boxxie.

The tasks from the ubuntu server can be replaced by the Mac Pro perhaps, something I am also going to consider. I will be able to sell the old parts, or give it to a family member. And I will save some Power. Using less energy and paying one less bill, and making space .. sounds like positive improvements.

Anyway, above is the current setup and who knows how it will change over time.

I can just say if you are looking to replace your computer or Mac and are looking for a new system, the iMac 24″ is the sweet spot for almost everybody. I strongly recommend it.
