The Never Clean Kitchen

Time for a rant .. because I am a little bit tired about my dirty kitchen. It seems the damn thing is never clean! It always looks like a mess. And I know, it’s probably my own fault ;)

Obviously every day I participate in throwing things out and doing the dishes and what not. but for some reason, even living alone, it seems there’s a never ending pool of dishes and other things that just pile up. Is there someone living in my apartment I do not know about? Am I just really slow? I do not know, hehe. But it seems it is a never ending job, and I am kinda tired of it.

Ergo: my rant.

So today instead of continueing this rant, and look like an idiot, because obviously I need to adjust the way I clean my kitchen and be smarter about how I use my things, like pots and pans and what not, I just have to disconnect for a while and go clean the kitchen top to bottom. I mean, what’s a few hours extra today if that helps me keep it clean the rest of the week. Which should make it easier to stay ahead, right? RIGHT? .. we will see. :)

A more dramatic solution: Stop eating, and when you eat, don’t use pots and pans and what not, just prepare it on paper plates I can throw away  afterwards. Or get a maid — wahaha.

Anyway, for now .. see you guys later, time for me to go clean my kitchen and apartment. because it looks like a mess. Oh don’t get me wrong, it’s not filfthy, it is just messy, sigh, so much to clean.

okay okay .. i am gone now.

[edit] Halfway through the day, a third through the kitchen. But something’s better than nothing! :)

I think the best thing to do is to simply clean up right away after you cook and eat instead of, say, waiting several hours/days because you found something else more interesting/enticing/fun to do. It might sound a bit obvious, but a clean kitchen is a healthy kitchen, and it’s in your best interests to not let the dirty dishes pile up or the floors be un-mopped.

A better idea would just be to do the dishes as soon as you’re finished eating. Yes, it gets annoying, but at least you don’t wound up with a mountain of dishes lying around.

My family is guilty of filling up the sink with water and not doing the dishes. I recently made a rule in the house though, “If I put my hand among the dishes and the water is cold, you don’t get to carpool with me for a week.”, that quickly put a stop to that.

I think its important to remove unwanted things from the kitchen to create a comfortable space. Its equally essential to clean plates, cooking pan, Cooking platform as early as possible after eating your food to avoid any awkward feeling. When your kitchen doubles up with so many unnecessary things, its important to create space for your own self to think about its cleaning.

Also, I don’t think getting paper plates will be helpful; unless you were conscientious about picking them up RIGHT AWAY after eating, you’d more than likely fall back to your old “Oh, i’ll clean it later” habits and then they’d pile up as well.

Now, about the maid…hopefully you won’t hire a hottie. You might end up being so distracted that you’d forget to write your blog!

One more important thing which should keep in mind is to keep away kids from the kitchen while you are cooking. Sometimes, when you allow small kids to enter kitchen to take their favorite articles like ice cream or fruits from the freeze, they just forget to close it and put things here and there. Its great to get your man’s help to clean it on a holiday.

Maybe you should get your cat to clean up sometime, think of it as rent for living and eating in your house, assuming you don’t chuck her out the door to clean up whatever rodent problem is eating the tires on your car of course.

My mom always find it difficult to manage with a cat. She don’t like the concept of having a cat at home due to her superstitious beliefs. Cleaning the kitchen is not a problem for us as she don’t allow to enter my small sisters in the kitchen. She is a housewife so she give full time in cleaning of kitchen.

Having read Mr. Floris’ “About Me” page, I don’t think he has any kids of his own, so unless it’s kids of his relatives or neighbors or close friends, I don’t see what relevance they would have to his kitchen-cleaning habits.

I still believe that picking up the dirty dishes right off and cleaning the pots and pans after meals is key to a clean cooking environment.

Haha I’m the same way. It’s like, “meh, will do it later,” even though I know that’s never how it goes. ;] Meanwhile I watch my aunt cook, and the dirty dishes seem to disappear and wash themselves as she works – I’ve never seen a person tidy up so fast as they go along. Well, good for those who can do that. ;D

My dad, when he was alive, was a professional chef and had an uncanny way of keeping the kitchen clean while he was cooking. He said it was simply a matter of putting things away when he was done with it so you didn’t have as big of a mess later on. I finally learned this lesson but I sure wish I could figure out a way to get my wife to understand it. LOL. Now if only I could have someone working as the dishwasher as was the case for my dad when he was at work. :D

Just limit how many dishes you have, see if you have only 2 cups and 2 plates you will have to wash them before you can eat again. No full sink, problem solved. You will get used to washing them off right when your done that way and things will stay nice and tidy.

Actually, I know exactly what you mean. I have a few complications in my cleaning situation, but I do love convenience. I’m very big on plastic and paper food containers, anything to avoid washing dishes, especially since I don’t have a dishwasher.

Maybe you should think about these little potties for the microwave.
You know, they have these little dishes, you can put in the microwave, heat up the inserted meal and eat it. After this, you can throw it away.

But you have to clean the microwave from time to time.
