We Talk TV For Sale?
Because of a mutual agreement for confidentiality I will not go into the details. But still want to discuss it a little bit. Over the last month I’ve been in discussion with a few parties that showed an interest in the web site I started last September; wetalk.tv
After putting in a lot of money, time, effort, and thought to the web site. Building the content, the staff, creating the short and long term plans and had it advertised, promoted, and all that .. it was great to see the page ranking on Google going up, it winning an award, that we got more users - despite the writer strike - and now even seeing that people had an interest in buying out the site .. that I feel we’ve accomplished something. That it wasn’t all for nothing.
Despite the good news that we had interested parties we did not take the bid and kept the site for ourselves.
It is a good signal that what we are doing as a team is going into the right direction. And that we have to work even harder now to not only keep it up, but to keep improving. Get better organized, get more editors to help manage the tv shows. And to invest more into the site to promote it and make it bigger. Clean up our content and organize it better. And to introduce new features such as social networking to keep it interesting for return traffic.
From the start of the site it was my intention to build a great community for those who have an interest in television series and if the site became successful to monetize it, or sell it to a company that can. It therefore was pretty cool to get contacted now, instead of what I expect .. perhaps next year.
I did not make the start to clock out, we’re not facebook or digg. But we are serious about our community. So yes, we are for sale, and people have shown interest. But at this moment Chris and I still own the site and will do our best to make it better.
There were a few rumours and there were a few questions. Hopefully this clears a few things up.
If you are interested in discussing television shows, IPTV or whatever comes with it I hereby invite you to check out our community wetalk.tv And if you are interested in working together with us, for example as advertiser, as a site partner. Or if you deisre to take over the site or support us via donations or fundning. Feel free to contact us. We’re always open for a private discussion.
Ok, see you guys soon again .. I have to go watch a bit more tv.
